Greetings.

By now, some of you may have seen the new ACT-R website, at

 http://act-r.psy.cmu.edu/

It has been running as the new site since Tuesday, and the old
act.psy.cmu.edu has a message pointing people to it.

A little information about the setup:

 * Many things are now database backed. This means that papers and
people listings right now are loaded out of a database and can be
updated dynamically. It also means that it should be easier to get
your names and publications on the ACT-R site.
Later, we may add more functionality to the system, including
database backends for "latest news", software, and models.

 * The old act.psy.cmu.edu site and the new act-r.psy.cmu.edu site
run on the same machine. With a little trickery, the two names
point to different sites running under different directories in
our webspace. This will allow us to migrate any remaining legacy
files quickly if needed. Some links redirect to the new site,
notibly the "people" link. Most links will continue to work fine,
at least for the time being. We believe that we have all the
vital information captured from the old site. Let us know if
   there's anything missing.

 * The "new" webserver hardware is actually a 100 MHz Pentium with
40 MB of RAM, an ISA ethernet card, and an 80 GB hard drive.
This is temporary. The drive will soon be going back into the
old system, a dual processor machine with a bit more RAM. For
now, expect some functions to be a bit sluggish (like papers
   and the mailing list system).

 * We have a new mailing list system. You should have received
information about this separately. If you are reading this,
you are probably successfully using this part of the new
   system.

Eli Silk and I have put a lot of work into the new site, and we hope
that it works for everyone. As always, please email any comments to
me and/or Eli, and keep us updated with your papers, contact info,
and other news items.

Thanks,

Adam Goode and the ACT-R Web Team
